In the case of Americans, there is no such thing as "dual" citizenship either. To become an American citizen, you must renounce citizenship in the other country.
Wrong.
$1:
The concept of dual nationality means that a person is a citizen of two countries at the same time. Each country has its own citizenship laws based on its own policy. Persons may have dual nationality by automatic operation of different laws rather than by choice. For example, a child born in a foreign country to U.S. citizen parents may be both a U.S. citizen and a citizen of the country of birth.
The U.S. Government acknowledges that dual nationality exists but does not encourage it as a matter of policy because of the problems it may cause. Claims of other countries on dual national U.S. citizens may conflict with U.S. law, and dual nationality may limit U.S. Government efforts to assist citizens abroad. The country where a dual national is located generally has a stronger claim to that person's allegiance.
However, dual nationals owe allegiance to both the United States and the foreign country. They are required to obey the laws of both countries. Either country has the right to enforce its laws, particularly if the person later travels there. Most U.S. citizens, including dual nationals, must use a U.S. passport to enter the United States. Dual nationals may also be required by the foreign country to use its passport to enter that country. Use of the foreign passport does not put into jeopardy your U.S. citizenship. Most countries permit a person to renounce or otherwise lose citizenship.
linkDual citizenship..."Dual nationals"...what's in a name? It's the same thing.

It's "bullshit" because the guy left Canada for professional reasons. We don't call NHL-ers playing in the USA "Americans"?
Lol. Uh, 'cept they don't leave for 12 years.

Akhenaten Akhenaten:
Whatever. It's ironic that Liberals have been calling Harper an "American ass kisser"..."American wannabie"...."American-style neo-con" all this time. They've been doing it for years. Now that Iggy shows up you don't hear that crap any more. Exactly what is it about Iggy being an American that's 'bullshit'?
It's not. He has duel citizenship = he IS an American. Attack ads don't enter into it.
First, there's no such thing as "duel citizenship". In the case of Americans, there is no such thing as "dual" citizenship either. To become an American citizen, you must renounce citizenship in the other country. Did Iggy do this?
It's "bullshit" because the guy left Canada for professional reasons. We don't call NHL-ers playing in the USA "Americans"? Are Canadian soldiers working in Afghanistan "Afganis" now? Then why criticize Iggy for being smart enough to get a job at Harvard? Would he be more of a Canadian if he'd worked in Toronto instead? Boston's closer to most Canadians than Vancouver is. It's not like he was off on a 34 year trip to Uranus.

The 2-Digit IQ's are also the realm of the 'neo-con' spouters.
