Approved by a federal panel. I don't imagine this will be the end of it though. Probably closer to teh start than the end, actually.

Years of litigation, then protest blockades. Good luck to them. I would actually like to see it go thru, if done right. Maybe not be economical to do it right tho.

I don't. We have everything to lose and little to gain.

Canada has got to sell it's oil. And my guess is this oil will move whether by rail or by pipeline. Pipeline is better. I guess the benefit of rail would be it would go to Prince Rupert.

Assuming they do put aside the 1 billion in contingency funds in case of accident, and they do their due diligence as far as making it the safest most environmentally sound pipeline that modern technology can create... do you still think the risks are too great for the billions in economic activity that will result from this?

And please notice that I'm aware that I'm making some assumptions there. I don't trust the oil companies to do the right thing without being forced into it anymore than you do, but I do think that with proper oversight the economic benefits are just too great to be ignored.

Too great. No one will have our best interests except us.

R=UP

Which would mean no Douglas Channel route and no Enbridge building it.

Ideally we should be selling refined oil to the Chinese and employing our own people to do the refining but then again maybe the only people who have the expertise to refine oil now, are the Chinese, just like they suddenly became the only people who knew how or could be taught to mine coal. :roll:

Approved. No way! What a f*ckin' shocker. :roll: As if it there was a chance that this project would not be approved.

Let's just see what happens next as they move forward with the actual construction of it.

Unsound.... NO amount of money for "insurance" "in case" something happens will come even remotely close to compensate for the damage that will result when an "accident" happens. And something will happen. Eventually. I dread the day.
