I'm willing to bet a few beers that Iggy doesnt have the balls to call an election before next spring, unless he wants to walk the same path as Dion.

$1:
Michael Ignatieff says the Harper government is on "life support" - and he sounds like he may be ready to pull the plug.

Iggy has done something I didn't believe possible. It has taken him less time to become a national joke than Dion.

All summer long he threatened an election over EI. Then he folded - he's the boy who cried wolf. If anyone is on "life-support" it's him.

He has allowed Harper to do now what he did with Dion. Keep goading him into pulling the plug, and, as with Dion, each time Ignatieff will back away.

Liberals who don't want to see a conservative majority or lose even more seats should tell him to shut up.

Oh wait:
$1:
Senator David Smith, Ignatieff's national campaign co-chair, said last week that EI would not be the trigger for a fall election and that it would be "irresponsible" for the Liberals to push the election button at the first opportunity.

Other strategists have said the party needs time to regain ground lost over the summer, during which the Liberals' lead in opinion polls evaporated. They maintain there's simply not enough time between Parliament's resumption and the first week of October to do that.

However, insiders say Ignatieff and his office staff are much more gung ho.

and
$1:
CTV parliamentary correspondent Roger Smith, reporting from Sudbury, said tempering the leader's hawkish tone in caucus are Liberals who are pleading for a more cautious approach.

They're saying, "'It's only been a year since the last election; the polls show us in a dead heat, at best; the economy is starting to turn around ...What exactly is our message going to be?'" Smith said Tuesday morning on Canada AM.

...gee...that's exactly what they've been doing. Why isn't he listening?

Iggy needs to spend more time explaining to Canada exactly what his plans for the country are. He has not once outlined any sort of general outline of what his policies would be if he were PM.

All he does is tell Harper that what he is doing is terrible, he disagrees with it etc. All the while saying they want to become the ruling party again. But tell us Iggy, why should we allow you that privilege? Give us good reasons and the seat is yours.

Yup. Policy is something they've been ignoring. Even the NDP comes up with policys and sometimes it's a good enough idea that the government supports it.

Here's my impression of Iggy if he was on Wheel of Fortune.

"I'd like to buy a clue please, Pat"
