wow more issues, we really could use a refresh of these old birds already. But knowing how long any military procurement process works in Canada...nothing will be done until the entire fleet is unservicable.

Which could be pretty soon apparently.

Flying JT and his entourage back home in an old C130 might prompt the politicians into action

Oh, I get it!
NATO arms-dealers need more money!

The publicity stunts will continue until morale improves!

yeah one of the E or H models, fuck are they old and showing it. They have among the highest time of any Herc flying in the world (north of 40k hours). There are still 17 of the older ones in the RCAF soon to be replaced by an airbus I believe.

Didn't Chretien buy a bunch of top-end Bombardiers just so things like this wouldn't happen? :?

The Challengers are smaller aircraft.

They also won't be able to fly to Europe or the US next month, because they don't have the avionics needed by regulation.

Justin should stay home more anyway, lest the urge to get all costume-y once again takes him to a place he really doesn't want to go.

Like they'd do that. XD

Remember the politician on a "fact finding mission" in East Timor and the Sea King incident. The sea king from the Protecteur was going to fly him ashore but he refused citing safety concerns and made the ship call an American Sea Hawk in to fly him out.

So, if as a politician you were willing to send you're troops out in a decrepit helicopter but aren't willing to risk your own life for a short junket in the same craft, do you really expect them to be any different or better now?

I'm sorry but if they can't get one of our own military planes to get them they'll just charter an overly expensive civie flight and come back in the style their station in life and lifestyle have them accustomed to.

And for the record. This sense of entitlement isn't just a Liberal at the trough problem it's endemic through all political parties.

RCAF has 4 challengers, two of them are 'newer' the other two are 80's versions and do not have ADS-B. They won't be able to fly in Canada in 2021 and yes next year is the US i believe.

I'm pretty sure he'd be riding in the cargo hold.

Although, I just can't shake the mental picture of Chyristia Freeland standing at the side of the runway with her stocking clad leg seductively sticking out of her skirt while Trudeau hides in the bushes waiting for some unsuspecting foreign official to stop his plane. ROTFL

Let’s just remember that anytime any PM acquires new aircraft or even floats the idea of fixing up 24 Sussex, the opposition screams corruption.

Chretien screamed at Mulroney’s “Flying Taj Mahal” when the latter bought the afore-mentioned CC-150 Polaris (all of which were USED Airbus 310s from a defunct airline and by all accounts fairly utilitarian inside).

Harper similarly screamed at Chretien’s 2 “new” Challenger jets that uwish mentioned, IIRC these are LEASED aircraft.

Conservatives also had a scream-fest when Trudeau refused to move his young children in to the dilapidated and unhealthy 24 Sussex.

For decades MPs proudly showed off their horrid offices on parliament hill, complete with leaking overhead pipes, black mould on the walls, and staff working in their unheated offices in gull winter parkas.

The whole thing is just a shitshow of Canadian ridiculousness
