Attended a prom in the states where they did this, it really wasn't an issue.

God forbid we let our kids be kids and do the exact same thing we did in our youth.
This sort of crap has and will always annoy me. You wonder why kids do incredibly stupid stuff? It’s because the relatively stupid stuff has now all been made illegal or had the fun sucked out of it.

I disagree. The prom isn't a place to be drunk. It's a school event. Save the booze for the after-prom party.

A breathalyzer to prove you are NOT drunk tho? What happened to "innocent until proven guilty"?

I think it's great policy.

Only the idiots go to the prom drunk or stoned, the rest of the smart people do it afterwards.

The breathalyzer is what proves if you are guilty or not.

Why would I have to prove my innocence BEFORE I go somewhere, doing nothing wrong?
I don't need to randomly be frisked, tapped down OR breathalyzed, thank you very much.

Frisk me while being in a store to make sure I am not stealing anything? No thank you.

The only way to graduate when I was a kid in England, was to drink 14 pints of Boddingtons bitter at one sitting and find your way home.

My prom did this. It didn't bother anyone.

Next year I hear your school will require mandatory cavity searches prior to the prom. But I'm sure it won't bother anyone.

Prom!!! They should do this every school day, for students and teachers... especially teachers. Gesh, how do you think most of them get through the day.

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
safe grads worked best. Students were kept in a safe locale and allowed to do what everyone knew they'd be doing.

Yep, nothing like giving alcohol to minors to keep people safe.

The after-prom party is what they're trying to avoid. That's the one with no supervision.

Safe grad was fun. Until they closed the bar and made us sit there until 7AM to sober up.

So I guess the same applies to airports to eh?

How dare they pat you down and make you take off your shoes!

Same reason they pat people down at night clubs or use metal detector wands....cause people like you would be the first to bitch about the lack of security if someone snuck a gun into a club or school dance.
