The here-nor-there of the case aside, Ventura's a douchebag. On that we can agree!

Kyle was a proven liar known for making shit up. Just another blowhard.
The offending passages in the book could have been removed but they were kept in, and so justice was done.

$1:
Eleven witnesses also backed up Kyle's version of events, defense attorney John Borger told jurors.
Eleven witnesses and he's lying and full of shit? What mickey mouse court did this happen in?

The one where the judge plays golf with Ventura or some one of his friends.

Judges run the show. The jury is just an audience.

Maybe in Canada but not in the US. 12 common people decide your fate.

Not everything in life is good guy vs bad guy. In this case it's apparently a slap fight between two equal and genuine assholes.

Why shouldn't Jesse Ventura sue? If the Navy SEAL lied about Ventura's actions at the bar, and how he subsequently punched him out, that's defamation. If Chris Kyle then turned around and publicized his punch-out to boost book sales, that's unjust enrichment.
A jury heard the arguments for and against and decided in Ventura's favour. That sounds a lot like Kyle made crap up for profit.
If you believe in the rule of law, then what matters are actionable defamatory statements made by Kyle, not that he's left behind a wife and kids. Nor does it matter that he defamed a wingnut. Jesse Ventura is quite capable of making himself look like an idiot all on his own.
I don't support Jesse Ventura's views, but I support his court victory.
