I will. My soul is pretty light and if there is a judgment day, I won't have much to atone for. Even from my rebellious teen and university days I was always the good guy. Never bullied anyone, never harmed an animal, never tested a girl's boundaries of consent, and never let anyone else around me go down that road either. So if on that judgement day some supreme being asks iif I'm remorseful I'll say I'm not and I'll pay whatever penalty is meted out for $1.47 worth of Organic avocado from a company worth $6Bn

And note that presumed safe isn't the same as proven safe, which is hard to do, especially when trying to determine how those chemicals interact with all of the other chemicals we are absorbing daily from the air, bath and beauty products, processed foods, flame retardant upholstery etc. Each is us is stewing daily in our own unique brew of chemicals based on location and the products we interact with. So if I have the ability to limit the chemical exposure, why not. Especially since in this case the avocado was for my daughters baby food.

There's nothing kooky or strange about produce that's not been chemically treated. That's just normal traditional farming.

Agreed - I went into one here to get my daughter a smoothie and some pimple-covered teenager asked, "Would you like to use the kiosk?" and I said, "Hell no!" and walked up to the cashier.

They are a major pain in the ass and don't take cash, unlike every other self-service kiosk in the world.

This is a favourite example amongst those opposed to increasing the minimum wage, blaming that on the rise of the self-order kiosks just like in this headline.
They've been testing them for years, they're an inevitable example of what is being 'newspeaked' as 'improving customer service'. Do it yourself and save, yet you never do save shit.
Where I live we only have a Subway Cafe, no other franchise fast foods. We often drive to Vanderhoof where there's A&W, KFC and Timmies. The one thing I notice is that for the 2 of us to go out for a burger - it's MORE expensive at a franchise now than the Mom & Pop places for a burger where you're actually waited on. I almost always leave a decent tip that goes to the server - and with that included, it's still more at the franchise places. You can even get the 'daily specials' for less than a burger combo.
The trade-off is consistency - you know what you're getting, not good one day and bad the other depending on the mood of the chef, etc.
The anarchist in me refuses to clean the table and dump the tray myself at these malls and franchise outlets. Fuck 'em they can provide a job cleaning up. Just like I to this day refuse to use an ATM for anything other than quick cash, I'll use a teller to deposit a single cheque. If the lineup's too big, I'll bitch to the manager and insist they get more staff. Fuck them too, I'm simply not paying a fee to do it myself and ensure no one gets a job.
Translink mentality. Spend billions scanning plates and mailing bills by machine, just to ensure no one gets a job but other machines.

It doesn't matter if they raise the minimum wage, lower it or leave it just the same. The reality is that humans can't compete with technology when it comes to cost so, these companies are going shift service to the kiosk model no matter what we think or want and in 20 years the people staring blankly into the colourful screen waiting to order their food won't ever remember a time when some nice College Graduate used to ask if you "wanted fries with that".
