I wish they'd let go of this bit of theatre because it's really not fair to the dog and clearly the Obama dog is stressed from meeting strangers on a constant basis. Trump's dog will no doubt have the same issues.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:

I imagine the dog will quietly disappear right after the 20th. The Obama's are not dog people and the dog is just another prop for the cameras. Presidents are expected to have dogs so the press handlers made sure Obama had a couple dogs.

Trump supposedly picked out an official pooch after the election when he caught shit for never having owned a pet - which IMHO was a responsible choice on his part since he's never home and his home in Manhattan isn't conducive to pets.

I wish they'd let go of this bit of theatre because it's really not fair to the dog and clearly the Obama dog is stressed from meeting strangers on a constant basis. Trump's dog will no doubt have the same issues.

I didn't know that it was expected. Weird.

It would be one thing if the dog was strictly a family pet, especially if the president has young children, and that the dog was kept in the family's private area. But it's another thing if it is a "prop" as you say. That is unfair to the dog as I imagine there is a fairly regular stream of people in and out of there.

What breed of dog did Trump pick? Or did someone do the picking for him?

A 'goldendoodle' which I think is part Golden Retriever and part standard Poodle.

No idea who picked it out.

On the upside with Trump he'll no doubt hire someone on his own dime to make sure the dog is taken care of. And then he'll undoubtedly catch shit for that.

What an asshole thing to say. You don't have to kill a dog just because it nipped someone ONE TIME.

Yes you fucking do! I didn't and I'll show you my daughter's scars for my mistake if you'd like.

I love dogs. But NEVER give a dog a 2nd chance. EVER.

Bullshit. I don't see how anyone who "loves dogs" could think that way. Maybe you "love" dogs the way Trump "loves" women, in that you love what they do for you but you don't respect them or believe they have inherent value.

It's not like the dog stalked and mauled an unsuspecting kid in a park. A stranger entered the dogs home and got in it's face. The dog nipped in response, Thats just what happens sometimes. And a Portugese water dog is not exactly a viscous breed. This was not a near-mauling. The girl didn't "almost lose an eye". Talk about killing the dog is ridiculous.

Dogs bite sometimes. Rarely, but sometimes. A bite or a nop is not a mauling. Accept it or don't get a dog.

Lastly why the insistence on murdering the dog? If you're not capable of owning a dog why not just give it away? Why the need to murder it? Sounds sick to me.

Putting a dog down is a last resort for habitually viscous dogs that are untrainable and repeat offenders. It's not for a family pet who on ONE OCCASION after years of faithful and loyal service by your side nipped a strangeer that got in its face. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a Grade A asshole who shouldn't have a dog in the first place.

Just goes to show how primitive these negros are. The primal instinct runs deep within them. The whitehouse guest is lucky Obama didn't bite her.
