Sounds like an expensive proposition. That's at least 50000 more people a year that Canada has to support. I don't know the logic of allowing immigration when the economy isn't doing so good and unemployment is so high.

No, it's more like an engine. You have to get it going first before you can go anywhere with it. It's exactly why countries do anything possible to avoid deflation. If the economy were humming along, importing people would be ok, even if most are the unskilled kind. Are you are doing right now if keeping these guys on the government dole and using tax dollars until the economy picks up again.

Do you think there is an upper limit to the amount of immigrants can enter Canada say in a single year?
