How about she gives the loot to an unemployment fund to help out all the people her ideology is going to permanently put out of work.

You mean the industry that employs more people than the fossil fuel industry? One of the main growth industries in North America?

Why should she fund people who don't want to retrain to fill much needed jobs in a different industry?

I've always been skeptical of that stat because it only includes those in extraction and refining, whereas oil and gas reaches into many other industries.

I'd guess there are probably more people working just at gas stations than there are installing solar panels and wind turbines, nevermind extraction, refining, transportation, value-added petrochemical industries, etc.

I think it's a fair comparison, because it compares the petroleum workers extracting the resource with the people building renewable energy installments. Once renewable energy becomes electricity it is the end product, so adding gas station attendants etc. would be misleading unless you also include consumers of electricity on the renewable side.

Never been to a gas station?
There's usually one teenager working for as little pay as legally possible running the pumps, a convenience store and a lottery centre all at once while the owned is at the Taxpayer Federation lobster dinner convention whining about how $10 an hour is driving him bankrupt.
We're lucky enough to have one full service station on the rez specifically run to provide jobs and training to as many as possible. It's the only one within 100 miles.
