hmm, so far its only the young members here screaming, and thats fine. I dont expect them to be happy about it.
If you as a group are feeling picked on, its because you as a group are high risk in the driving category.
Cars are not dinky toys, it takes time to learn how to work with them. I like the fact these extra restrictions will force you to think more carefully about what you are doing.. exactly what is was designed to do.

meee223 meee223: Tricks Tricks: Mcguinty has been quoted as saying that is a modest restriction to youth's freedoms. Anybody find something wrong with that? This is easily (minus the alcohol part) the most retarded piece of legislation this government has put forth. I hope this is remembered by today's youth in the next election. There are a great many retarded pieces of legislation that this government has put forth and that is why I can't hold up a Canadian flag on Canada Day, or any other day. WOW...think you should visit/work in some countries I have. You would be kissing that flag as soon as soon as you got back.

No offense but that is a stupid thing to say. No, it's not. To proudly wave a Canadian flag is to totally ignore all the crap, insane laws, and stupid things going on in this country. No country is perfect, of course, but I swear that a week never goes by when I see or hear something happening here that simply boggles the mind. It never used to be like that here, but in the last few years.....Some gov't. leaders have no business being in their position.

Young people = high risk? Do you ever watch the news or read a newspaper? Every freakin' age group is high risk for the offenses these laws are meant to curb....every single age group, my friend. All age groups drink, drive, speed and kill people with their dangerous driving. ALL AGES GROUPS, ok????? If you want or need restrictive laws like this, make sure they apply to EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO DRIVES! Currently this prospective law is just another reason to believe that the people running our government are very stupid people who don't think properly!

Driving over the speed limit = a 30 day suspension? 95% of drivers on the road drive over the speed limit Longer time between G1 and G2 (or G i can't remember) equals we have to pay more for insurance for longer, what is the government going to do about that? Oh right nothing, because the government doesn't like finding actual solutions, just banning things or making new stupid laws. It's seems like that's what this government does. Only one passenger when you are under 21? So designated drivers are now a terrible idea. How about it takes like 4 more cars to go to a bar now, which causes more green house gas emissions. Oh shit, looks like this government doesn't give a damn about the environment, the lying sacks of shite. Either that, or more people are motivated to drink and drive. Nice laws, not.

Great, more rules, less freedom. Chink by chink we are forging the chains of our own servitude.

People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people

I remember when BC brought in similar new driver rules. If I had gone through that when I was 16 I wouldn't have gotten the job I did when I got my drivers license. My job had me working various shifts including graveyard, and under the BC rules you can't driver after dark I think. I don't think they will even make exceptions for new drivers that work.

Tricks Tricks: R=UP to both of you! I can't wait for Squinty to raked over the coals for this. Bout time this fucking asshat got what he deserves. Well, I dislike the trend for adults who grew up enjoying the priviledges they are now restricting in todays youth I will add a few caveats. I actually can understand the reasoning. I recall 3 specific incidents from my youth all involving me driving with 3 friends in the car. 1) Driving down a back road trying to get the car up to 88 mph for obvious reasons. No voices of caution just egging on from my friends. Not the brightest move on road conditions easy to lose control on. 2) Driving on the 400 coming back from a day in T.O. trying to get a friend back home in time for his date. As I drove faster and faster and weaved in and out of traffic he kept chanting "go go go". I remember telling him "you'd better get laid tonight". He didn't. How I didn't get pulled over I'll never understand as I had yet to ever had been at that point. 3) Winter driving down the road speeding up and deliberately slamming on the brakes to induce fishtailing. They were just as bad when they were driving their parents car too. A little bit unlucky and we were all an afterschool special. Just things to muse.
