Tman1 Tman1:
I'd say time for some changes but these people are fully aware of their choices and freely exploit the charter in Canada. Not the first time people who move here exploit it.

Lots of people exploit it - even the ones born here.

Some pea headed 18 year old nympho wants to be #5 on the mans wife list, have at er. Good thing on being an adult is you make our own choices, good or bad. Saw the photo of his kids and grandkids....isn't it funny how much religion (assuming these chicks even believe the shit)takes all thought from your brain. How did this guy get into Canada anyways?

Another sicko setting up a twisted group like this. Those kids are the ones going to be paying for it.

It's illegal yes, but why is it sick, as long as minors aren't involved?

I don't think so. Outside of the issue of minors, who the hell cares whether some guy has one or a dozen wives?

ROTFL
If she was a nympho, she wouldn't be #5 on the list, but have husband #5 by the time she was 20

Consensual adults and all that. I guess in BC, they figure the state has a place in teh bedrooms of the nation. Too bad. Campbell used to be much more laissez-faire. Now he seems to be of the mind that government intervention is the solution to everything.

We'll see. But if that criminal law is based upon unfair religious persercution (like some racial based laws were) then I don`t see it remaining illegal after a Charter challange.

Minors are involved. Some of this guy's wives were married at 15.

My great grandmother(my maternal grandmother's mother) was 15 when she was married to her first husband, who was 19. He died 5 years later and she married his younger brother, my great grandfather who was 2 yrs older than her. By that time she'd had 3 kids.

Then charge him with that. If a guy wants to marry twenty wives adn theya re over the age of consent, who cares?

I agree. Freedom to live like this should be allowed as long as the whole forcing underage girls to marry against their will is dealt with harshly.

My only concern is what legal problems does it bring concerning legal protection of children, estate assets, power of attorney, etc?

In addition, how can a man with so many wives and likely too many children support them? I don't think the taxpayers should be on the hoc because a man decides to have such a large family.

The women get the child tax benefits, based on their both salaries. He probably divides his salary by 20, so all the wifes get the max amount :D If you have 10 babies with that guy, that gives you... euhmmm $2500, $ 3000 a month?

The houses and land are probably all paid for, no property taxes to be paid on land that doesn't exist (Or would it fall under Lister? Bountiful itself is not a real place for as far as I know, but I could be wrong here...), they grow a lot of stuff themselves... They work as contractors (and do a great job too...), and are the cheapest in the neighbourhood. The girls work as hard as the boys.
