DerbyX DerbyX:
I have no sympathy for one party people or areas especially when they themselves take pleasure in it when it happens in reverse.

Reap what you sow boys.

They're paying the political price for building a party up from a far-right base.

DerbyX DerbyX:

Harper needs the support of the NDP and Bloc, the notion of which was called treasonous by the usual con hacks here.

Its just another example of how Harper will say and do anything to remain in power.

Didn't you?
$1:
Tory insiders say the party is hatching a survival plan to keep the surging Liberals at bay and delay any potential election long enough to enjoy the international limelight at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver.

and while they do that ......
$1:
A second part of the plan will see the Tories launch a series of attack ads this summer focusing on the Liberal's popular new chief, Michael Ignatieff.

What a bunch of hypocrites who will say and do anything to remain in power.

yep.
$1:
Gee.. What's the problem with a coalition? They do it in Europe..

lol... this is just more pet media crap from the Liberal friendly media.
The Libs need the Blok AND the NDP to do anything and feelings of cooperation are not going to be high after Iggy shat all over Laytons little scheme.

Its always just media spin when the cons do what they claimed they were steadfastly against.

So are the Cons planning on joining forces with the opposition to over throw them selves? XD

They are climbing into bed with the NDP and Bloc to ensure the confidence of the house (ie seats/votes).

Its no different. Harper did it before and he is doing it again.

Say anything and do anything to remain in power. The conservative way.

How often in the three years they've been in power have they done that?

Every time they have needed to.

I can think of one instance they did something to hold onto power. That would be the shutting down of parliament. So what other examples of the "conservative way" do you have?

That would be the shutting down of parliament in order to break his own election law because he felt it was his best chance to win.

You see after enduring that very same criticism of saying anything to hold power against the Libs is refreshing to point out that harper does exactly the same thing when he needs to.

Actually this is an example of just how a minority should work just as it did when Martin was making deals with the NDP and Bloc (also called treasonous by the con hacks). A minority party offers compromises to the other parties it needs support from. Thats how our system works.

We all get the government we deserve and the reason why the Bloc keeps being able to swing sweet deals its way isn't their fault, its ours. Harper hates the Liberals and will not deal with them under any circumstance and thus is forced by his own hand to deal with the Bloc.

The Bloc may be hated by most of the supporters of the Libs, NDP, and CPC but most often they simply hate the opposite side even more.

Think Harper could have offered something Iggy instead of handing Quebec over another 2.6 billion, an act that virtually spits in the face of his entire western support and an act he constantly attacked the Liberals for doing.

He hates the Liberals more then he values the opinion of the west or else he would never have done such a thing. His alternatives to cutting a deal with the NDP & Bloc were deal with the Liberals or lose a confidence vote sending us to the polls.

He choose to deal with the NDP and Bloc in order to maintain power. He isn't willing to put aside partisanship even to avoid betraying his reformer guys.

Isn't Harper doing the same thing Dion done but without a signed contract....

Now come on... We all know what will happen.
We the house breaks for X-mas, they will just have an extended break and the House will not be reconviened till the 1st of March.

I wanted you to be clear on the particulars.

Harper made deals with the NDP and Bloc whenever he had to. If you want a tabling of the bills just visit the government website.

Like I said. He did it whenever he needed to. He certainly did it when they resumed after the prorougued session.

In fact many con supporters won't even acknowledge that he is even responsible for the very bills he tabled he was trying so hard to ensure he remained in power.
