Canadian-designed hijab lets girls play sports safely

So without a hijab, women couldn't play sports safely?

Muslim women would not be able to play sports safely without a hijab because if they did so the men in their families would kill them.

just another "accommodation" for someone who bitches. I think they should be banned from playing period if they don't like the rules.

Great. Why don't you just be free? Allah made you. Allah didn't make you wear hijabs. Men did.

Lord Tunderin' Jesus, bi! "Why don't you just be free?" This is Canada mate and not many are as FREE as you think these ladies should be, including you in that wee uniform. Hell, I'm betting you'd say no to your daughter if'n she was fixed on going to the Mic Mac Mall on Saturday topless. Free, indeed! [B-o]

Wearing a bra is not a religious statement of subservience. And as far as me wearing my wee uniform, that is a statement of my willingness to defend our freedom.

I'm all in favour of anyone wearing anything they want, as long as it doesn't create a safety or security issue. ie. Uncover your face when boarding a plane or voting, no swimming or playing sports in clothes that can cause accidents. No topless hotties on the side of the road when I'm driving.(Certain billboards have come close enough to causing me to rear end someone)

Maybe the women who wear the Burqa think the same about their "uniform".

WE might not agree, but apparently THEY do.

I don't think we should tell people what to wear any more than we should tell them what language they should speak.

Kudos to the designer of this product. She's solved a problem that will stand these girls/women in good sted. Good job.

Then I suggest you move away from Canada. Such an idea would never fly here because we value freedom. Stopping someone from playing a sport because they have some sort of special need flies in the face of freedom and love that we believe in.

ha no one is stoping them from playing, they are full allowed to play with out wearing it. Should we accommodate all request from "special needs". Should we allow a wheel chair on the ice rink?, or maybe a "you cant skate that fast , becuase i am a midget and have short legs" accommodation?.

The issue i have is there making the sport adapt to them and that's not how it should be, adapt to the sport or dont play it, simple

Yet you allow a misogynistic culture to take root in Canada and continue their oppression of women. Since you're all about 'freedom' are you going to also allow them to practice their traditional female circumcisions (the excising of the genitalia from little girls)?

There's a difference between medical abuse of the body and preventing little girls from playing sports. I'll not take a straw man thanks.

No, in this case, there is not. The reason females are made to wear the hijab is to hide their sexuality. Female genital mutilation (FGM) springs from the same mindset that says that women are inherently evil and that it is the duty of men to suppress them.

If you're going to allow Islam to oppress women under the guise of 'freedom' then it soon becomes a matter of 'in for a penny, in for a pound'.

This is what the French are discovering is that by letting 5 million of the vermin colonize France they've created a colony of the Ummah in their country that openly demands subservience to their wishes.

And now you want to do the same to Canada and let the vermin create Islamic enclaves within Canada where women will not be free to do anything unless they adhere to Sharia law.

It's rather pointless to argue this with you as I can see you have your mind made up. Perhaps when someone you know gets a 'smiley' for not wearing a headscarf you'll change your mind.

My mind is most certainly not made up the matter thanks. But I'm also not the one calling human beings vermin based on their religion or trying to twist my argument that we live in a free country to say that means bending over backwards to meet the end of every religious group.

It is also the truth as I've stated that I despise the idea behind the burka BUT I understand not all women wear the darn things for the same reason. I don't think it's unreasonable of anyone to demand that immigrants of the Muslim world learn to respect and uphold our values towards the equality and treatment of women.

Thanks but I don't think you really understand what my position is let alone have the knowledge to say that I'm stuck to it.

I agree with that. It's the the same slide, just a little farther up.
