saw it in 3D, visuals are mind blowing, the world is incredible, the creatures are amazing and everything fit together flawlessly.

The downfall of the movie as some have pointed out is the storyline, totally linear with no twists at all, you can see everything coming from a mile away....reminded me of ferngully .

So much for the RR's hope that Sherlock Holmes would knock off Avatar...

$1:
According to studio estimates Sunday, James Cameron's 3-D epic earned $75 million for 20th Century Fox, only a three per cent drop from its opening weekend total of $77.4 million.

"Sherlock Holmes" followed close behind with $65.4 million, including a record Christmas Day debut of $24.9 million. "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" took in $50.2 million.

Who cares about whether it is the best movie of all time or revolutionary?

It is a pretty enjoyable movie, definitely worth a few bucks and a few hours of your time.

Enough said.

"Avatar" hits $352 million at box office

"Avatar" crushed its rivals at the New Year holiday weekend box office in North America and was poised to challenge "The Dark Knight" as the second-biggest movie ever, according to data released on Sunday.

James Cameron's 3-D sci-fi epic earned $68.3 million in the three days beginning Friday, setting a record for a film in its third weekend of release, distributor 20th Century Fox said. The old mark of $45 million was set by "Spider-Man" in 2002.

After 17 days in cinemas across the United States and Canada, "Avatar" has earned $352.1 million, placing it at No. 15 among all movies in terms of ticket sales. Fox, a unit of News Corp, forecast the film would end up in the $500 million range.
