Proculation Proculation:
I've been to Amsterdam. I understand what Brenda talks about. It's just not the same thing there. There are bikes EVERYWHERE. You just cannot have a car in Amsterdam.

The 6 people were professional cyclists. They were practising for triathlon. They were all in a row. They were surely rolling as fast as they could. It was a straight route. The guy in the car fucked up big time. The police even wonders if it was not intentional.

I heard he was coming off a night shift, so probably he was sleeping. I like to think a volunteer fireman has a better moral code than to intentionally hit cyclists, but there are lots of yahoos in pickups and SUVs (mostly) who are that psychotic. Little men, little dicks, but big egos.

Wow, a detective, a psychologist, and a generalizing idiot all in one post.

Well done!

That highway had no paved shoulder and were in the lane on the highway, something I'd never do. Pretty sad for the families involved.

I've been hit by twice by cars on my bike, both times they sped off.

I caught up to one woman who clipped me. Oblivious and clueless...

Gunnair - ride a bike and you'll see what I mean about the yahoos, and what kind of cars, or rather trucks many of them drive. And if you don't think there's psycho killer road raging roid monkeys driving on the road, then you're either not paying attention, or you're one of them.

I just saw the condition of the road on the news... I don't think the roads condition is that much better than the bike path...

I do ride a bike. The ones that have clipped or almost clipped me, weren't driving trucks.

I drive a truck, car, bike, and I walk. I cover all the bases, but I can't be bothered to piss myself into a generalization fit over this.

Stay off the road if you're so afraid.

I'm not sure how that's relevant. Certainly not an excuse for the guy. But he did stop to administer first aid, so it's pretty unlikely he did this on purpose or was even trying to scare the riders by how close he could get. If he was coming off a night shift, that's pretty self explanatory - lots of accidents happen 'cause of drivers falling asleep or nearly so, most don't involve cyclists.

They were cycling and sharing a lane with high speed traffic on a highway, a paved shoulder may of saved their lives. According to the laws that highway based on the volume of vehicles using it should of had a paved shoulder. Cyclist riding $5k racing bikes usually don't do off road on gravel, generally it fucks up their rims.

Personally the only time I use highways is on my way to an off road trail on my mountain bike so gravel isn't a problem in the first place.

The cyclists claim that the bike path's condition was not good enough to cycle on. I have seen both. I don't see their logic... It was not a "gravelroad" as I see them here... Sure, there was gravel on it, but so was it on the road, and the potholes dont make for a good cycling experience. Hell, I don't even ride my motorbike yet, because the potholes are not fixed, and that has bigger tires...

It doesnt excuse the driver from not paying attention, but it does make this totally unnecessary.

What did I touch one of your delicate nerves because you drive a truck? If you're not one of the yahoos that like to push their way around, why do you feel attacked? If you are (unlikely if it's true that you bike yourself), well then the shoe fits.

The path i saw in the video was hard packed gravel. I'll do short distances of that on my road bike if necessary, and it won't harm my rims. But it doesn't make for good riding either, it's rough and slow. It's something to endure to get off as soon as possible.

As Bodah says, the legislation is that a road like that has to have a shoulder, and they were planning on putting one in very soon. Just too bad that this happened before then. It sounds like this club uses that highway quite a bit, and I can only assume there isn't an alternative available.

Hardly. I'm just a bit bemused by your latest pissy fit.

Please, do go on though... mashing of the keyboard and pissing of the trousers in another of your impotent forum rages I mean.
