A photo that has gone viral while circulating among the online military community shows a man at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, kneeling down on one knee reportedly during the playing of taps, and is sweeping across America, outraging thousands.

“Taps” is a bugle call played at dusk, during flag ceremonies, and at military funerals by the United States armed forces and is regularly played at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Not standing for Taps is incredibly disrespectful.

The picture is sparking intense outrage on social media. It is unclear exactly why the man seen in the photo is kneeling during taps while everyone else is standing, but most people online are assuming it is in protest.

If that is the case, it follows in the footsteps of NFL players’ protests – close to 200 NFL players and coaches took a knee during the U.S. national anthem on Sunday. The protests were started by football player Colin Kaepernick last year to protest what he believes to be problems in America, namely police brutality and black inequality. Kaepernick was not signed by a professional football team this year.

Protocol at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is that you stand, and many times the Soldiers who guard the Tomb will directly address people who are not standing and demand they stand.

“Someone actually had the nerve to [take a knee] at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. That is the definition of absolute trash,” one Twitter user posted.

According yo snopes, this claim first appeared on Reddit's pro-Trump thread r/the_donald yesterday at 9:50, then 30 minutes later on a Facebook account belonging to "Salute media" where the poster claimed their daughter took it. Snopes request to speak to the poster went unanswered.

Probably from a Russian troll house, which we know are active on both sites and particularly the r/the_Donald thread.

A right-wing Christian broadcaster reacted to NFL player protests by warning its stadiums would one day be turned into government death camps.

Religious broadcaster Sheila Zilinsky, host of the Weekend Vigilante radio program, warned listeners that the government and professional football were working together to brainwash Americans, reported Right Wing Watch.

“I told you the NFL was out of the bowels of hell and nothing more than a propaganda machine, with mindless sheep who are brainwashed every night of the week with the alpha, gamma, theta waves, the delta waves lulling people into trances, slipping people into mass hypnosis,” Zilinsky said. “That’s declassified, folks. High-level mind control projects have been exposed, it’s on record. TV, that noise box, is the most disgusting invention ever made.”

The U.S. Department of Defense paid the NFL nearly $5.4 million in taxpayer money between 2011 and 2014 to honor troops and veterans at games, most of which was supplied by the National Guard.

“These new NFL policies are straight out of the Pol Pot regime,” Zilinsky continued. “In some stadiums, women can’t even enter into the same entrance as men and children — talk about your FEMA camp training. That’s right, the NFL is an extension of the TSA, the DHS, the globalist agenda and FEMA.”

“Every NFL stadium is a FEMA camp in hiding,” she added. “The American public is being conditioned to the fact that the state owns your body and your freedoms … The NFL stadiums are going to be staging areas for martial law and it’s all a part of the conditioning process.”
