“H More..ardball” host Chris Matthews and his daytime colleagues at MSNBC, for example, have their used air time to marvel at what would possess an average American citizen to go to a rally near where President Obama is speaking with a gun.
But the media reaction was markedly different nine years ago when a group of Black Panthers marched on the Texas Republican Party’s state convention on June 2000 brandishing AK-47s. Indeed, that incident itself was chalked up as then-Gov. Bush’s fault by none other than then-MSNBC "Equal Time" co-host Paul Begala.
A search of Nexis and the Media Research Center’s News Tracking System found no stories on that evening’s broadcast network newscasts about the Black Panthers brandishing “assault weapons” to protest then-presumptive GOP presidential nominee – and Secret Service protectee – Gov. George W. Bush’s refusal to intervene in the pending execution of convicted murderer Gary Graham.

The June 16, 2000 “Fox Report” noted the incident, featuring an on-scene report from reporter Mike Rosen of Fox News Austin, Texas, affiliate KTBC.

Since the US has such a torrid love affair with firearms, why don't you just shit and get off the pot. Make it mandatory that EVERY citizen over the age of 16 MUST carry one. Then you can alll relive the "glory days" of the Old West, since y'all seem to act like it already is anyway.

Every male in Switzerland has a mandatory military training and keep their ASSAULT rifle at home. They can carry it. They also have to train every year. And it is one of the more peaceful country on Earth. You can have guns without killing everyone in your sight... I will say like ridenrain: I guess those who have a problem with guns are those who should not have one because they could be dangerous.

Well that was a totally useless comparison 1) The US has what they claim, to be the most professional military in the world to defend them. So there's goes your comparison. 2) I have serious doubts that even 10% of the gun toting populaton in the US has even taken a standard saftey course, nevermind getting some military training. And 3) in Switzerland, it's the LAW. And finally, you are also comparing peoples with entirely different mentalities. The Swiss are a small nation, that needs every man it can get in their military, that knew the USSR would be coming through if the cold war ever heated up.
