I, for one, do not own one single t-shirt. Plenty of tank tops, but no T-shirts.

I, on the other hand, have an extensive collection of t-shirts but not a single tank top! 8O

BeaverFever BeaverFever:
There are alot of ways to address this without inconveniencing everyone. I always pay at the pump for the sake of convenience. I don't know how paying cash before you pump is more inconvient than paying cash after' either way you have to go inside and wait in line.

If you pre-pay (either electronically or in cash) the pump shuts off automatically when you hit your pre-pay amount. It should be fairly simple to have a shut off limit(say, at $20) if there's no electronic or pre-pay, which should reduce the likelihood for theft and for employees to risk their lives chasing it down.

Which brings me to another question...why are these minimum wage employees sacrificing their lives for gas-and-dash? The Ontario Federation of Labour has said it is concerned that gas station owners are docking wages from Employees when gas is stolen on their shift (docking wages for theft is illegal in Ontario) and has launched an investigation and tip line for gas station workers.

Unless you fill up completely. You'll never know how much it will cost, so you first have to go in, wait in line, pay, fill 'er up, go back in in line, get your change.

This reminds me of the SFL conference I was at a year back. We actually used union funds to lobby the government to pass laws preventing this sort of thing by demanding 2 employees working between 7pm and 7am or to have an employee and security guard present at those hours.

We did it because there was a loss of life after a gas and dash in PA that killed a 17 year old. We even named the motion and the proposed bill after him I just can't remember the name at the moment.

Pity to see provincial governments are still under the thumb of big business like oil.

Know how big the tank is. Note how much you need. Calculate the sum. Pre-pay that amount. Pump. Leave.

How "full" does "full" need to be? Every last void filled or just to the full mark on the gauge.

I want every, last, little minuscule void in that tank gone.

That is FULL. Full on the gauge is just a pale imitation of true fullness.

Now the employers are just telling you "Black pants and t, no jeans" or "steel toed boots and your own tools".

So you are still paying for it yourself.

No, if they require something special they have to provide it. If they don't you can go down to Value Village or the Thrift Store and pick up some pants for $2.
