I'll be glad to be gone by then. Modern times are bad enough so there's no need to be here for a situation that's assured to be even worse than today already is. Humanity's basic shitty nature combined with all the worst aspects of technological change? There's nothing good in any of it for those of us who already learned the hard way how disposable we are.

There will be laws passed in the next 100 years that echo China's (in)famous "One Child" policy.

No need for a law, the West is already there.
The only way the population is increasing is from 3rd world immigration,
with all the fun that has brought and will bring.

Pretty certain that the upcoming augmentations and genetic engineering will be restricted to those who can afford it. Just another thing where sci-fi from the 1950's thru to today has really fucked us up, with the irresponsible proposing of utopias that will never be allowed to exist. There's no way in hell that the elite will allow those kinds of advantages to be widely available to the mass of drones and klooges that make up the bulk of humanity.

Or..or... they'll force us all to become augmented to instill our unwavering loyalty to the coming regimes. Think, those pesky free thinking klooges can start Revolutions. That's bad for business. Better to have a the peasant class become drones, that way they can't bitch and refuse unsafe work. Basically we'll become Borg.

I've decided I no longer want to be a Cyborg (unless I'm free from that system)

Thanos Thanos:
It's different now due to the complexity of the tech. Back then you could take a farmer and put him on a Ford assembly line without much difficulty. Give it enough time and the AI scene will be so complicated that asking the average human to become part of that industry, (and that's the actual trainable people and not the dolts) will be like asking a caveman to fix a broken nuclear reactor. This is a sea change coming, probably the largest one in human history, that's going disqualify the vast majority of people from becoming part of the system simply because the machines and computers will be exponentially more intelligent and versatile than any person ever could be.

Maybe in 50 or 100 years, but in the near term, only simple jobs will be automated and replaced by robots/AI.

I highly encourage you to google MIT's "DON". (Dense Object Nets)

If they say you are good for 20 years, I honestly suggest you assume you have 10, at best.

In the last 3 years, when this video was published on YouTube to today, AI has seen a substantial increase in abilities.

I don't use Google but is sounded interesting so startpage.com gave me this:

Imagine letting a robot clean your house while you are at work, or to clear your tables. That's exactly what the novel robot developed by researchers at the MIT can do.

The team at the MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), developed a novel system which lets robots inspect random objects, and visually understand them enough to accomplish specific tasks without ever having seen them before.

The system, dubbed "Dense Object Nets" (DON), looks at objects as collections of points that serve as "visual roadmaps" of sorts.
