Ah, capitalism.

Agreed.

At least it's better than not being able to change your phone plan, or, perhaps, not being able to have a phone at all.

I'll never sign more than a one year contract again. I accidentally washed my son's phone, but wasn't too concerned since he'd had it for a year, and was due for another anyway. Too bad I signed a 2 year contractand he would have to wait another year.

I spent way too much replacing a phone that would have been free had I not felt so loyal.

Little trick here Lily. If you wash an electronic item, immediately put it in a bag of rice. It will suck the water out and probably save the device.

Ah, greed....

Disgusting how the more we complain about the way Cdn. carriers shaft us, the more ways they find to shaft us.

pay-per-use customers

why are people surprised by this? Thats what that service is called PAY PER USE.

Get a plan

Perhaps some wiser folk don't wish to be locked into a contract with Canada's modern day robber barons.

Well i have a plan and my services won't be affected. Why does not having a plan make you wiser?

I have a plan with Bell as well and it includes text so this won't affect me.

HOWEVER, I pay way too much in the first place for my cell ($55/ month) even with the cheapest plans Bell has.

whats not to understand??

if you use texting, buy a text bundle.. they are designed to save you money.... even on pay as you go

Yeah and they are pretty cheap too. My cell is only important to me when I'm traveling. The rest of the time I don't usually care if I have it or not, which reminds me I need to replace the charger my dog chewed up. 8O That was almost a month and a half ago now

You're kidding, right?

Yes, that works, the rice is acting as a desiccator. Most electronic devices are remarkably resilient as long as the water does not cause a short. Most times all it takes is just a day or two and the waterlogged phone will work again as long as you do not power it up until you go over all the contact points for the power supply three or four times with a dry, lint free cloth. However, all cell phones are pre-installed with a chemically treated paper that will change colour the moment it is in contact with water and will never revert thus voiding warranty.

I think this is a whole lot of screaming over nothing. We are talking 15 cents. If you are getting that much spam on your cell maybe you need to be more careful about who has your number. I think cell contracts suck donkey balls in general. I use pay and talk, what am I ever gonna do without that 15 cents

Get no cheese on your donair?

We get crappy coverage here with Next(to no coverage)tel. Do you have Nextel in Canada and what is the coverage like there. I imagine it must be bad going from Edmonton to Fort McMurray but how about the main regions of Canada? And who provides the walkie talkie towers and coverage in Canada? Does anyone know if it is compatible with US customers. I would like to get one for Mom maybe.

If you are quick and don't power up the item again or if it is powered up at the time of wetting shut power immediately and disconnect battery. If you are adept at using tools take it apart and use a hair dryer on low. We use them for electronic boards that get wet inside of gas dispensers and they dry out fast and work almost immediately. The key is ensuring every bit of water is gone before reapplyin power or a short will possibly occur.

I have no fucking idea what a "text bundle" is, or where to get one. No one is explaining these "plans" or where I can get them.

It's like people are hiding this information from me. I'm tired of it being presented as common sense, I don't have a freaking CLUE where any of this crap is, what is is, or how it works.

So I do what some people don't do nowadays. I talk with people in person.

:x

You are extremely intelligent and can learn anything, you are doing that now in school. Why the lapse with Cell Phones? You can do it. Go Mr Canada Go! Endure...push onward....go that extra mile....never give up! Only you can conquer the cell phone phobia. XD
