We are told that no one is above the law. But, for many it seems the Police are an exception to that rule.

You want to stop this, start holding the Police accountable for their actions.

The prosecutors too. I posted that video last week in the US Police behaving badly thread, and anyone who watched it saw the injustice. But the prosecutors are still taking their time, saying it's difficult to charge a cop, which is it because of 'colour of authority' legislation. But how can someone see that video and suggest there is insufficient evidence for charges? Looked pretty cut and dried that the other cops not stood around and let it happen, but they stopped any bystander from helping too.

But the protests are way past George Floyd. He is the catalyst, but hundreds of years of this bullshit are the real reason.

It's far from all cops who are dirtbags, we should remember that.

But then again, who can forget this from the Ferguson protests?

DrCaleb DrCaleb:
I am not the internet. When someone apologizes for something sincerely, I forgive.

Perhaps that is exactly what is wrong with the internet and society in general in this age of social media lynching.

Trudeau never acknowledged his hypocrisy thus it can still be used against him whenever he tries to lecture Canadians on racism.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction ... The chain reaction of evil - hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars - must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.

He did. He's done it many times. He even did it yesterday in the House. (Starting at 1:24)

There is a Dietrich Bonhoeffer quote I thought of when I watched as our dear leaded flounder about for those 21 seconds...

“Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”

I think part of the problem is that POS cop was arrested AFTER rioting began. States or the Feds need to pass laws that hold Police accountable for their actions and they need to Investigate allegations openly and prosecute and convict Police when they break the law.

The charges need to be serious, and if guilty, the sentence; heavy.

His colleagues also need to be arrested for accessory.

We are told that no one is above the law. But, for many it seems the Police are an exception to that rule.

You want to stop this, start holding the Police accountable for their actions.

Also better training the Police on things such as use of force, arrest procedures, management of aggressive behavior, public relations, law and interpretation of law, ethics and conduct, "race-relations" and

You're assuming an investigation never happened, and that the cop is 100% guilty without
any kind of trial...

Booth assumptions are wrong.

$1:
along with adopting a National use of Force Framework and making the recruitment process more stringent for new Police recruits would go a long way to restoring public trust in the Police.

ya ya, along with no choke holds and shoot them in the legs type
Creepy Joe bullshit.

you know what that won't do ?
restoring the police's trust in the public.

Magic Johnson did an interview or something and said basically

" no peace until a guilty verdict "

You know, it doesn't exactly work like that.

$1:
U.S. defence secretary doesn't want to use historic legislation to quell protests

Breaking with President Donald Trump, U.S. Defence Secretary Mark Esper said Wednesday he opposes using military forces for law enforcement in containing current street protests.

Speaking to reporters at the Pentagon, Esper said active-duty troops in a law enforcement role should be used in the United States "only in the most urgent and dire of situations," adding, "We are not in one of those situations now."

Use of the Insurrection Act, enacted in 1807, has been discussed as Trump has talked about using the military to quell sometimes violent protests in U.S. cities. Esper has authorized the movement of several active-duty Army units to military bases just outside the nation's capital, but they have not been called to action.

Just before Esper spoke, Trump on Wednesday took credit for a massive deployment of National Guard troops and federal law enforcement officers to the nation's capital, saying it offered a model to states on how to quell protests nationwide.

Trump argued that the massive show of force was responsible for protests in Washington and other cities turning more calm in recent days and repeated his criticism of governors who have not deployed their National Guard to the fullest.
