Business do not operate for the sole purpose of employing people.

Buzz talk, means nothing to the discussion. They do employ people and they have to operate within rules set by gov't. The gov't is elected by people not business, and unfortunately for business some of those people are workers.

When I was in college in the 1970s I wrote this semi-satirical newspaper article about start at minimum wage employers who wanted to take advantage of your four year diploma for a mere "case of beer an hour" wage. This discussion wouldn't be happening if you could get a dozen beer for an hour's work these days.

Read the op, and I even helpfully bolded the part that says "tight labor market." Maybe that means something different in Bartland.

Wendy’s Penegor said company-operated stores, only about 10% of the total, are seeing wage inflation of 5% to 6%, driven both by the minimum wage and some by the need to offer a competitive wage “to access good labor.”

Not seeing anything about a 'tight labor market'.

There's lots of minimum wage droolers out there but not a lot of people who can perform the kind of basic computations that are required to make change. Be sure to thank a teacher for that last part!

Now the fast food places will move away from cashiers completely. They're also going to get rid of the burger flippers, too.

Soon enough the only people needed to run a fast food place will be the guy who takes care of the machines and the guy who cleans the dining room and the bathrooms.

Christ, I quoted from the op and even bolded it for you. It's the first farking paragraph of the piece. None so blind as those who won't see.
