DrCaleb DrCaleb:
I am aware of the history. But it's 2020 now.

You saw that as an attack? Interesting. I was only stating the facts. I am glad though that even though I forgot to mention a totally random thing in my attack, that you didn't automatically assume you knew my thoughts on the doctors that perform MAID.

Legislation for medical professionals specifically says that they don't have to do any procedure they are not comfortable with, whether that is abortion, circumcision or MAID. There are enough doctors who are willing to help patients with their suffering to counter balance the ones who have issues helping people die. And I am good with that.

I am genuinely interested to know why you feel that the gov't shouldn't be allowed to force doctors to carry out the euthanasia procedure if they feel it violates their religious or moral beliefs but for when the subject of a Catholic Hospital run by people with those types of beliefs comes up you take the opposite stance, remembering that both are gov't funded?

I see the conundrum, but the Doctors in that Catholic hospital still have the option to not perform MAID duties. From what I have read about the issue, Catholic hospitals refuse to to comply with the part of the legislation that says; while Doctors don't have to do anything they don't morally agree with, they do have to refer their patients to someone who is able to help them. The Catholic hospitals around here refused to refer patients to other doctors, in violation of the patients rights.

In my eyes, the Hospitals still have to help their patients, even if the Doctors don't perform the procedure.

That means to cause no pain deliberately or through ineptitude/incompetence of treatment. It has nothing at all to do with helping someone who wants to depart this life, because of already-existing agony to continue suffering, to have their final decision carried through.

I don't agree but thanks for the clarification. At least I can now see your point of view.

The expression does not specify the object.

"First, do no harm.... to thine own pocket-book."

Well I for one am sick of radio and tv interviews where the host won't call out bullshit when they hear it.
What doctor will, is or ever has been forced to assist a suicide? For that matter forced by the gov't to perform an abortion?

Some conditions, no matter what the Doctors do, will result in agonizing death. The question then becomes, is it causing more harm to let them suffer and die than to help them die painlessley?
