Thanos Thanos:
I do marvel at the stupidity of the Euros to have kept lending them money even when it was becoming obvious that the Greeks had no intention of paying it back.

Yet we keep doing it with Quebec. :D

The whole mess is a cluster.

The Greeks should never have borrowed money to finance their welfare state but socialism so they did it anyway. Thus proving the old adage that socialism works just fine until you run out of other people's money. The Greeks have now definitively put the proof to that saying.

The Europeans on the surface were silly to loan the Greeks this money but it wasn't ever just about the money, it was about getting the Greeks to sell out their sovereignty to Brussels. Debt slavery is a great tool to suborn a nation but it only works if the potential slave agrees to it.

And good for the Greeks telling Brussels to kiss their ass.

Now let's see if Brussels and NATO come up with a handy excuse to invade Greece because I guarantee you that someone over there is thinking about this right now. They're going to be desperate to keep their plan for a Federal Europe on track and I imagine some of them will see the Greeks leaving the Euro and the EU as an illegal secession.

Upside for Greece: The moslem colonists that have been pouring into Europe will shortly depart Greece for greener pastures and fatter welfare checks. Meaning the Greek nationalists will win their goal by default. Good for them.

In Greece they have several parties that run the gamut from:

Communists, radical socialists, moderate socialists, racist socialists, fascist socialists, and conservative socialists.

No matter who you vote for in Greece you're voting socialist.

Not unlike the US where the Democrats and Republicans fight over who gets to bankrupt the country first. :|

5:05 p.m. local time:
Greece's defence minister says three opposition parties have signed a declaration backing Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in bailout negotiations with creditors.

That makes a total of five parties behind the prime minister, who already had the support of his own Syriza party and the junior party in the governing coalition, the Independent Greeks.

Minister Panos Kammenos said the support heralded a "new era" in Greek politics and would boost Athens' chances of reaching a deal with European and international creditors.

I just don't see this ending well for Greece. If the Euroweenies back down then they'll be facing the same problems with Ireland, Spain, Italy, and Portugal.

No kidding, I would not be surprised if the EU intervenes in Greece with military force and deposes the government.

Come on Bart, quit your wanking. For military intervention, it's far more likely the Greek army will take over if things really go south. Don't know if the EU can deal with a military dictatorship as one of its own, I would doubt it.

Germany is going to have to shit or get off the pot here. The desperately want Greece to stay in the EU, yet keep pushing impossible terms on them. Either buck up and pay up, or let the Greeks go.

There's enough at stake between trying to protect the EU and the Euro, trying to keep Russia out of Greece, and more that we have no idea about that I can absolutely see someone coming up with a pretext for an intervention.

And given the cohesion of the opposition parties on this topic there's just not much wiggle room for Europe if Greece decides to totally default on their debts.

They wouldnt need the military to depose the government.

Varofuckis and Tsipras have zero credibility among the euro ministers now.

The banks will be closed all week, contrary to what the Greek PM said.

Another lie. :)

1. The EU, unlike the UN, does not have it's own army. All they have is defense pacts with the member nations that they can call upon for mutual protection
2. No European nation is going to allow their armed forces to be used to invade another EU member, or anyone else for that matter, for economic reasons
3. If Russia wants to become Greece's sugar daddy I doubt any European nation is going to care at this point. If I was any other member of the EU I would invite Russia to come and tie that albatross around their neck
4. Greece can threaten to pull out of NATO all it wants, however that would hurt Greece more than it would hurt NATO. The money countries get supplying NATO bases in their country is not something that can easily be replaced. At this point Greece can't afford to piss on another revenue source

Meh, we haven't seen the Cyprus style bail in yet, that probably comes Thursday Friday as
part of a deal to keep Greece in.

Remember, Tsipras said deposits were safe; the first sign they will be gone. :)

Seems I'm not the only one contemplating an intervention (invasion) in Greece.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/behind-the ... on/5460730

He won't say it's on the table right now but it's clear the notion is involved in formulating Greek opinion and Greek policy.
