He says a Greek bankruptcy and the collapse of the Greek banking system would affect the whole of Europe, and anyone who thought otherwise was naive.

'Serious candid discussion'
Posted at 21:53

Mrs Merkel says the eurozone leaders had a "serious, candid discussion" that "reflected the seriousness of the situation at hand". The leaders "obviously respect the results of the referendum" in Greece, the chancellor adds, but they had a "shared responsibility" for the EU.

It's the first time they mention Plan B, which is to get Greece out of the Euro.

Since all 28 EU members meet on Sunday, they will either:

Ask for money from non Euro members to help Greece,
Haircut every bank account in the EU to pay for Greece,

or say bye bye Greece. They need to leave the EU to be booted from the Euro.

It also gives Greece time to get the drachma presses fired up.
The fact that the new Greek Finance Minister showed up today with absolutely no plan
apart from some hotel notes that said 'don't appear triumphant', speaks volumes

Gotta hand it to Merkel, she has much bigger balls than Obongo.

No problem. Greece has a plan "B". [but]

They intend to become a satellite country in the new Soviet Union under Vlad the Dear Leaders benevolent guidance. [B-o]

So I can hardly wait for Alexis Tsipras to break up with the European Union on Facebook or twitter.

I can see it now. 8O

If the Greeks leave NATO and the EU and the Eurozone then two things will certainly happen:

1. Greece will instantly cozy up to Russia because the Greeks correctly fear a hostile and resurgent Turkey.

2. The Greek nationalist party (Golden Dawn) will predictably take control of the country, kick the Muslims TFO, and then arm themselves against the Muslims in Macedonia.

After that is anyone's guess.

************

Edit: How the EU and NATO treat Greece will be watched and noted by the people of Iceland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. If there are punitive acts made by a tyrannical EU then I can imagine the other countries leaving the EU and the Euro of their own accord.

Bear in mind that a number of Euroweenies have said that Greece is not allowed to leave the EU even if they want to. To me that's a threat of military action.

Besides, the Russians will do anything the secure another seaport for its Navy. The one in Syria is .... well, vulnerable and they are only ever just a few days away from an IS drive taking the place and Russian sailors are losing their heads in the desert.

If Russian warships start tying up in Greece (and it is actually possible) we should consider closing our embassies there, too.
