By decreasing staff? I've been shopping less at place like Sears and The Bay because of their LACK of staff available for customer service.

I think I overhead something to that effect from some Sears employees (maybe the manager, I am not certain) when I was in the food court last week.

I haven't been a fan of their stores for a long time, but when our dishwasher died recently, the Sears Home Store had the best deal in town (combination of ease, cost and product).

With Sears Home, I paid for it and booked an appointment at the same time. They came, removed the old one, took it to an Eco Station and put in the new one for $100. Everyone else (Leons & The Brick) wanted us to disconnect it ourselves before they would install a new one, as well as charge a huge fee ($150) to install the new one and haul the old one away.

Have to say, it was a real easy decision...

Not a fan of Sears, it's one of those large department stores that was popular in the 90's but hasnt evolved to suit consumers today.

There are only 2 employees at Sears here, and I think Chris has quit not too long ago.

And they don't sell perfume either. Just beds and appliances. The rest you can order from the catalog.

Yeah, no kidding! Same thing at The Bay. The only place you can always find employees if you can stand the cloud of scents overhanging the area. Problem is they can't help you with anything outside of their department.

The Sears here has one entrance from the mall... with the perfume dept right at that entrance. I'm sensitive to that shit and can't stand having to walk by it so I will usually exit the mall and enter via an outside door.

I'm not anywhere near scent sensitive. Used to have to deal with dead and rotting animals on one of my old summer jobs. Stuff that would turn most people green. To this day I'm still damn near immune to skunk spray.

And I still occasionally get nauseated walking through the perfume stands.
Can't imagine what it is like for someone who can't tolerate that stuff even in small quantities.

I only go to Sears once a year when they have the ObusForme pillows on sale, usually 2 for the price of one. Other than that, there is little else there that interests me.

I've used lacquer thinner through an airbrush more times than I can count, without even using a respirator mask, and it doesn't come anywhere near as bad at making me sick as venturing too close to the perfume area can.

At least Sears is giving notice. With Best Buy (and Best Buy-owned Future Shop) hundreds of employees showed up for work and found the doors locked at I think 15 locations across Canada today. Classy way to treat employees.

I don't shop at Best Buy anyway because I disagree with their restocking fee for returned merchandise, but here's one more reason not to go there.

I used to work in a manufacturing shop where paint and lacquer thinner were always in use and only seemingly noticable to the occasional visitor. Didn't bother me at all.

But the "perfume, lotions and potions dept"? Bleh. Gag.
