Well, if someone hadn't named a political party after them, we could have kept it. 'Alberta.ca' seems so bland. I would have preferred 'Strong and Free', mostly because it pissed off easterners. ;)

Bullshit. B;atant politics, but mostly pretty understandable.

They should hold a contest for a new motto as well. Looks too plain without something on there.

Strong and Free would be good, or how about "WE remember, too"? Since you're in the mood to piss people off :)

Unsound Unsound:

I don't think it's that blatant. They'd do the same if the motto had said 'PC' country' too. ;)

But if they don't do it, it looks like political favouritism. Now I expect the Wildrose name to change back to the "Alberta Alliance Party" so the 'Alberta.ca' will fit them again. hehe.

Maybe change it now to Black Ground Country. After the tar sands poison everything, there won't be any wild roses left anyway.

DrCaleb DrCaleb:

I don't get that part because I have lived in the East and I have lived in the West...if anyone is pissed off (generally speaking) it was Westerners. Things I heard way too often:

-Easterners come here and take our jobs
-Easterners and the FRENCH have the elections all decided by the time we vote
-The N.E.P. was put in just to destroy the West (get with the F'n times)

Too bad that 'Westerner' who is PM right now is such a d!ck. I know that I met many Westerners who would do a better job than he has.

I heard some CBC or CTV poll of the new motto for Alberta "Strong and Free" conducted on eastern residents, and they mostly thought it sounded 'too American'. I guess they forgot that it's a line from 'Oh Canada'.

And I haven't heard those bitched about for years. The Cretien years, I think. (And the NEP was the most evil thing inflicted on us by Ottawa, ever! Get with the program!)

Here's my suggestion for a motto:

Alberta; How Canadians say Texas

I don't care about the slogan really - but the plates are nothing special.

The background in 1 & 3 look like clip art from the 90s and #2 has that stupid band of white across it.

So I guess it's okay to call BC Clear Cut Forest land then? Or Granola-eating, Sandal-wearing Hippie Land?

Come on, that was a cheap shot that doesn't reflect Alberta at all.

The amount of Alberta that has oil sands under development is tiny in relation to the size of the province as a whole. Even if oil sands development is compared to its parks and other natural areas, we stand pretty tall.

I'm gonna miss the wild rose. I've always liked being from "wild rose country".
Not really a fan of the new designs.
