Wilbur Ross is no Spring Chicken, he's always on top of issues. I only wish it had been Harper who was in charge when NAFTA is drastically altered or cancelled, as it would have been nice to see him get hammered for his support of abuses of Canadian Human Rights. As it were, Trudeau has been screwed by the security apparatus, no province going to get hit harder (as I suggested) than Ontario. Already the auto industry has been put on life support.

I think it's an excellent bargaining tactic. In that David Orchard essay I put in the NAFTA thread, he cited the US cutting us off in trade, in the hopes they could annex us after losing to us in war.

Same goes here, Trump tried to pressure us into a very one way deal. Now we don't have to depend so much on that deal, we have options both east and west for our products.

South isn't as important as it once was. So, they can compromise on the intentional poison pills, or take their ball and go home.

I conceptually agree with your comments, but when almost 80% of your trade is with the US, claiming that the south isn't as important for us anymore is really a stretch. I agree that we must look elsewhere, it's never good to have all your trade with only one partner.
