the chances of that happening are extremely unlikely. Along the lines of the likelyness of me getting impaled and killed by a frozen chunk of urine in the Sahara Desert...

And any micro-blackholes that may appear would alst only a fraction of a fraction of a second...

Suzuki and Gore are already organizing as we discuss this.

Suzuki and Gore are already trying to find a way to get publicity and money out of it. In the late 60s suzuki was preaching a new ice age then he went to acid rain, global warming , climate change, now this. Over educated fools making money by keeping the population scared.

I'll agree on all points but one. No such thing as being overeducated.

Ya know...I know you're just joking when you say this, but want a tin-foil hat conspiracy theory to play with?

Wagner is talking about CERN's Large Haldron Collider. He appears to want the whole project shut down

That same LHC is slated to be used for the much resisted CLOUD Project by Jasper Kirkby. This project will offer information on how cosmic rays may create clouds in our atmosphere. There has been as I said much resistance to science acquiring information on this subject. Not just to Kirkby. Others such as Svensmark have encountered resistance as well. The theory of cosmic rays affecting climate offers another layer of possibility to explanations of natural causes to climate change. The theory of CO2 forcing as the dominant climate change effect is challenged. Those who prescribe to the "it's all man's fault" ideology can't tolerate the contradiction to their dogma.

I doubt these 2 projects at CERN are related. Still...

Just a thought. [huh] Do you think that is how the whole "Big Bang" thing started?

A few scientists found a way to make a singularity, toasted each others ingenuity. The party got out of hand. Then they got drunk and fired the thing up to see if it would work. The result was the end of their universe, and the beginning or ours. [?]

Now every few billion years or so, a life form on a planet advances to the point of doing this. Thus destroying the universe and re-creating it.

Could this be seen as a new creation theory? Intelligence rising to the level of its own incompetence. 8O

It's not so much about recreating the big-bang as it is about hoping to expand our understanding of the physical world; particularily string theory. Best case scenario, the Large Hadron Collider will get us started on the road to a better understanding of the universe and physics which in turn could lead to such developments as faster-than-light travel...

So, 'Oh shit!' was what was really said rather than, 'Let there be light'?

I agree, this would be high beneficial to us if we proceeded this. I think we should pursue this, however I agree with the other guy as well. We should take baby steps, to ensure that dooms day scenario does not happen. Though not pursuing this would be tragic. I think it is atoms that disapear, and reapear out of nowhere? I believe that was it, anyways imagine if we understood how it did it. Can use that for our space achievements. Teleporting basicly, one second your space vessel is on earth then next second you are on mars or they can do that whole Stargate thing.

$1:

Actually, while it's pretty damn complciated, the main concept of faster-than-light travel is that given a defined quantity of space, a particle/atom/whatever will look to be "entering" the fold in the spacetime continuum, but since it is travelling faster than the speed of light, it would supposedly be "emerging" from the other side at the same time that it appeared to be entering...Supposedly...

Exactly.

In the one in a quadrillion chance of a micro blackhole being created, it would evaporate instantaneously.

To put it in layman's terms, there's a better chance of Dion calling an election for real or even becoming Prime Minister than there is a chance of us all being swallowed whole by a micro blackhole...
