RIP. Most won't recognize his name, but he did as much for computer technology as Bill Gates or Steve Jobs.

And Olsen is still remembered for his 1977 prediction that "there is no reason for any individual to have a computer in their home." He later insisted the quote was taken out of context and that he simply meant he could not envision a day when computers would run people's lives.


I don't think anyone could have envisioned the effect Farmville would have on some people.

Reminds me of how the ignorant kids these days laugh at me when I tell them one of the first computers I worked on was a Digital. After I educate them on how 'Digital' was a company that made computers then I go on and tell them I also used to play with my Wang. :wink:

You mean the old orange screen mugs? I hated those things. But about ten years back WYSE came out with what are probably still the best thin client terminal emulators I've ever seen. I love those things.

It was a pun. 'Vices', playing with your 'Wang' . . .they are never funny if I have to explain them. ;)

Yea, their thin clients were pretty good. At that time, I was using IBM thin clients, and they were pretty decent too.
