I'm glad to see that that is their idea of a major problem.

The professors don't want to step in rabbit poop anymore. I do have to wonder just how many "Easter Bunnies" are dropped off there by the stupid parents who bought them for their kids. The kids played with them for a day then realized there was some work involved with having an animal. The novelty wore off and low and behold, the idiot parent take them to a place like this and "set them free". Maybe they won't now if the kids knew baby bunny was going to get the axe.

Lousy pets maybe, but they do make a fine stew! [drool]

It depends on what you call a lousy pet. Having a rabbit might actually be pretty good. They don't bark, they don't run around and chew the furniture, they don't piss on you're plants, they don't bite, and they don't eat you out of house and home . [B-o]

Come to think of it.................... they don't do fuck all except boink? 8O

It must be kind of like having a furry little NDP Member of Parliment for a pet. :D

they don't bite

You've never caught a rabbit that didn't want to be caught have you? The bastards do bite and scratch and they will gnaw the shit out of anything, furniture included, if given a chance. The only reason you need to have a rabbit in your house, is as the main course.

I can see wanting to reduce the numbers, but completely rabbit free...? Besides being a tad unrealistic, it also seems a bit severe. We have rabbits in my neighbourhood. There's not so many that they cause problems, but it sure is a nice treat for the kids when they see one of the buggers go bouncing across the front lawn. I kinda feel the same way when I see a couple rabbits in public parks or other green areas. It's a reminder that even in the heart of the city nature is still around.

If the rabbits were a natural phenomenon at UVic there would be no problem, but as it is all the rabbits there were introduced by people dumping their unwanted pets or the offspring thereof. The rabbits are an unwanted introduced species, look into what damage has been caused by introduced animals etc. throughout the world.
