A U.S. Army staff sergeant was ordered on Friday to be tried by a military court to face charges that include murdering three unarmed Afghan civilians, keeping body parts as grisly war trophies and beating a whistle-blower who told superiors about widespr
Staff Sergeant Calvin Gibbs, 25, is one of five soldiers from the Stryker Brigade charged with murder. Twelve soldiers in all face charges in the most serious prosecutions of alleged war atrocities by U.S. military deployed in Afghanistan since the war began in 2001.
I gotta admit tho, if I was in a war, I think I would either curl up in a fetal position or turn into a psycho killer. I don't know how guys go thru that shit and remain more or less sane. Maybe you just learn to focus and compartmentalize.
Wonder how many of these incidents go unreported or uninvestigated, seems this came to light only after one of them blew the whistle. How many of these play station generation out there thinking its just a video game and they are there to "get some"
Good for the Army court to take action on this, lets see if justice is served in this case or is let go with a slap on the wrist i.e dishonourable discharge a few months or even years in the brig etc etc.
Doesn't excuse what they did but there were probably atrocities committed in all wars or conflicts since man was man, from all sides. You can't put that many men in this kind of stressful situation without having a few of them go a "bit" crazy.
What sick fucks!
Fixed

But this goes way beyond "a bit crazy".
