Catherine Evans introduced a motion to kickstart the renaming process earlier this week. The word for a Native person is Siwash that's what you would call a Native person. And the word Siwash is derived from the French word 'sauvage,' which translates t

Could someone explain to me how naming a rock by using the native jargon for native people is an insult to natives?

Stupid is as stupid does and just because she's into her own personal version of white guilt and self flagellation doesn't mean the rest of the Vancouver Parks Board or the rest of us for that matter have to blindly follow this self righteous nimrod in her silly Quixotic quests.

Gregor should start dressing his Bureaucrats in cape and cowl.

"Holy Social Justice, Censorman, that 200 year old name isn't politically correct!"

"Quick Chickadee, to the social-justice-mobile. Time to rewrite some history."

Vancouver's new PC crime fighters are such heroes. *snark alert*

I was wondering what led this woman to go full PC retard and then it dawned on me. She's just sucking up to her new masters so she can keep her job. If you want to see the real definition of stupid just take a look at Gregor Robertson and the Vancouver Vision party.

Nobody but a bunch of full blown PC SJW's would be dense enough to admit or even openly say that their entire city sits on unceded native land.

I wonder how many city lawyers stroked out when these idiots opened the door wide open to hundreds of million dollars worth of litigation and years of court cases because of their bosses attempts to be the "most PC gov't" in the country. XD

This shit's gone on forever. The Salish Sea. The Great Bear Rain Forest.
Shit I even woke up to discover I no longer lived in Old Orchard cuz Grace McCarthy and her developer friends decided it was now Metrotown..
Let's change everything into something with 14 letters, 9 apostrophes, no vowels and no one can pronounce.

I don't have a problem with the naming of The Salish Sea or Haida Gwaii as the indigenous people have been here for more than 1,000 years, if not a lot longer. What they could do is add the Squamish nation's name of Skalsh or Slhx?i7lsh along with Siwash, the same thing they are doing with the road signs on the Sea to Sky highway....even if no non native speaker will ever get the pronunciation correct.....
