Considering the lack of leadership to call the attacks in Edmonton terror, this isn't a surprise.
There is no attempt to subvert America (except perhaps by Trump. However, the importation of hundreds of thousands of people from countries which are increasingly embracing more and more rigid and anti-western interpretations of Islam will certainly subvert Canada, and is already in the process of doing so.

From the Toronto Police, to OPP, RCMP and CSIS, we are not an ally to the U.S. State actors in American corporations in the name of National Security.
If anyone thought this was going to continue unchallenged when we have a free trade agreement, well, we know now it will not. It will continue regardless of who is president.
Canada can try and schmooze U.S governors into seeing the world through their lens, it will not prevent reality from being presented to voters who will in turn NOT support increase trade with socialist and neo-communists.

So why didn't the US deport him when the judge ordered it, instead of releasing him from prison so he could enter Canada illegally?

We already know both systems are screwed. But having Trump pull another of his 'ignore this, look over THERE!' routines to distract from the issues doesn't work with most people. He wants us to ignore that this guy couldn't be deported to Somalia under US law, but wants money for his wall, that changes nothing about the ability to deport people!

What the current regime seems to be saying though is this:

It's interesting that this was even happening back in 2011 under Stephen Harper. Shame, shame Steve. Should have plugged those holes back then, and maybe we wouldn't have to be dealing with the tens of thousands upon thousands of future Sharifs storming across the border illegally today at the twitter invitation of the latest MIC (Moron In Charge).
What I find more interesting is we're now discovering this terrorist is actually another one of these phony refugees who broke the law to exploit our own weak bureaucracy and scam status of a Canadian.

Harper tinkered with immigration and refugees, but he was too terrified of being accused of racism - which he would have been - had he really cracked down. As it was, him refusing to rush Syrian refugees into Canada after that boy was shown on TV drowned had the media reacting like their hair was on fire.

It was cheaper to give him the chance to self-deport to Canada.

The problem with your bias is that Religion plays little role in that guy's life.
