Two drones spotted flying near the runway brought Gatwick airport to a standstill last night with thousands of passengers diverted as far away as Bordeaux and warned the chaos could last all day.
Snipers to shoot down a drone in a densely populated area? That's ridiculously irresponsible and as equally dangerous as flying a drone into controlled airspace.
Where the hell will the bullets come down?
Just use a radio frequency jammer to bring the things down. It's not like the UK cops and military don't have that kind of kit.

Drones, like smart phones, use a 3 or 9 axis motion sensor that is really susceptible to certain sound frequencies. There are 'guns' that can target drones and drop them right out of the sky using audible sound.

Why use the "safe" way when you can use the fun way. So some kid gets a bullet in the head 3 miles away.. did you see how that fucking drone exploded when it was shot?!
Drones are back: Planes at Gatwick Airport are grounded AGAIN after 'unconfirmed reports' machines have been spotted over the airfield threatening another night of chaos for passengers
Gatwick closed its runway again tonight after another suspected sighting of a drone over the airfield One flight from Morocco appeared to be just moments away from landing when it was forced to divert away The saboteur remains at large more than 48 hours after the crisis began despite a police and Army search Sussex Police said they were closing in and had identified 'persons of interest' before the latest sighting Police have not made any arrests with 'lone wolf' environmentalist or group of eco-warriors prime suspects The runway had re-opened earlier on Thursday after all 760 flights at Gatwick were cancelled yesterday Caught up in the Gatwick chaos? I have to admit, these guys are looking like good anti-heros. I mean, it's a total dick move. But I have to give them credit for a pretty disruptive, non violent way to protest. Especially since a drone has a 30 minute battery life, to keep hidden and undetected for 48 hours deserves a golf clap, at least.
I bet they are using a cellular modem on something like a Raspberry Pi or Arduio as a controller. A regular Futaba RF type controller would require you to be too close, and would have been 'sniffed' by now. Cellular frequencies though, much harder to zero in on one source in a crowded place like an airport. And you can't jam cellular.

If they're out of shotgun range shooting them down in a populated area isn't viable. THe Brits aren't idiot Palestinians firing their guns into the air downtown and yipping like coyotes....
What if this is their mating ritual? We don't want to interfere with the reproductive cycle.
Obvious troll is obvious.
Is it even drone season?

What about the prime directive..
