Marriage to any person under 18 should not be legal. Unfortunately conservatives have never agreed to this.

I'd like to point out that the last party to raise the age of consent were the Tories, after it stood at 14 for over 100 years. So apparently liberals don't want it either, considering all the chances they've had and never done anything.

    It's awful and sickening.

These girls are more often than not forced into a marriage before they are old enough to have a voice of their own, if ever they have one. :(

Age of sexual consnt and marriage age are different.

The vocal opposition to raising the age for marriage comes from the religious right, who believes sexually active teens especially teen parents should get married ASAP do as not to be living in sin and bringing shame on their parents. Religious right who are opposed to premarital sex typically support a higher age of consent but not for marriage.

That's actually an interesting distinction, that you're probably not wrong on.
