Despite looming threats of a snap election this fall following the We Charity affair, most Canadians arent interested in heading to the polls during the pandemic, according to a new Nanos Research survey.
I agree that right now is not the time for an election. We just did that bullshit last year.
1. It would a tremendous waste of time and money. It's bad enough that there are tens of thousands of people on assistance of one form or another right now and things are not looking good for a recovery of our economy anytime soon.
2. Voter turnout would likely be the lowest ever. With all the social distancing measures they'd have to stage voting over a course of a few days. More people would take the "fuck it" route and not bother at all.
3. The end result would probably be a Liberal minority again.
Out of curiosity I looked up the cost of the 2019 election.
The estimated cost of the 43rd federal general election is $504 million or approximately $18.41 for each registered elector. The costs associated with delivering a general election typically span four years and include expenditures incurred well after election day, such as reimbursements for parties and candidates. Most of the costs for the 43rd general election are being incurred in fiscal year 20192020. As of January 31, 2020, over 75% of the estimated costs have been incurred.

Nope. We can't afford that right now.
Potato's approval is the lowest ever, and is close to tanking! Bring on the election!
