Dutch athletes competing in next month's Beijing Winter Olympics will need to leave their phones and laptops at home in an unprecedented move to avoid Chinese espionage, Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant reported on Tuesday.

    Hmm, probably be easier to convince anyone under 30 to have a leg amputated than to not have one of their ridiculous little screens with them 24/7/365. Poor kids, they'll never know what it's like to not have one of those goddamn tethers attached to them all the time. :|

    Even though the story makes this seem like a new idea, it's been assumed for years that you don't take electronic devices to certain destinations.

    That includes the US.

    Just do what a lot of other people do: bring a burner phone. My brother in law works for one of the bigger tech companies in the US, and he was told to do that when he took a trip to China a few years ago.
