GG's new year's message calls for 'solidarity'

Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean spent much of the five-and-a-half minute broadcast promoting support for Canada's soldiers, saying it was the need for solidarity that led Canada to join the multi-national reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan.
