Maybe if they'd stop mixing it up as a liguid to spray on their fields it wouldn't smell so bad. I lived by a farm that used to do that and when you drove by it wasn't the smell that got you it was the amonia odour from the rapid decomposition.
I guess it's cheaper than buying fertilizer but I suspect that at some point in the future they'll discover it isn't good for people to be inhaling it, especially people with COPD problems.
Go to a big outdoor festival on a summer Sunday. ( Like the Shelburne fiddle contest.) Go to the evil row of johnny-on-the-spots. Go inside. Think about that being on your food....
