Holy shit they actually know where a majority of their nuclear weapons are? Damn that alone is news.
I am glad though that the Americans are now stepping forth to being allies of Eastern Europe. Hell they should move some of their bases there because it sure seems like the West Europeans don't want them there sometimes.
"saturn_656" said If Russia had stones it would announce that it was targeting more missles at Washington DC.
But it is much easier to bully smaller, and mostly nuclear weapon free, European countries than try to dance with the Americans.
This is just Putin doctrine trying to reclaim the Soviet Union. The Cold War never really ended, the Russian government was just pretending for a few years. Now the former KGB run the show.
The UK and France should turn around and say all their nukes are going to be targeted at Russian cities. See what kind of response that gets.
When will the US learn to stop getting involved in other countries affairs, whenever the US gets involved in something. You got bullshit like this always starting up.

What's the issue about Poland and the rest of Eastern Europe trying to curry American favor and telling Russia to fuck off? This is Russia's fault for screwing over Eastern Europe for 50 something years. Nothing more, nothing less. The Eastern Europeans are trying to become actual Democratic states and such, and what better way than going to the Americans?
"romanP" said I doubt that would have much positive effect.
So? I'd like to see Europe stand up for itself once in a while. Remember Russia has just threatened to target nukes at Europe.
Russia shouldn't be surprised if Europe responds in kind.

Russians being arrogant dicks? Gotta be Americans fault!

Uh.. right. How does one "stand up" against nuclear missiles? The only kind of stand- that you'd get is European countries building a whole lot more nuclear missiles, if they had any to begin with. I don't think the world needs more nuclear weapons.

I don't know who you're quoting there, but it's not me.
Ah, yes. Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it - along with the blatherings of the press, as well. Y'all have your facts back-asswards.
The first president Bush, in 1991 or '92, personally gave his word to Gorbachev that NATO would not spread into eastern Eruope. That promise wasn't kept. NATO now includes Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The USA unilaterally pulled out of the ABM treaty. ABM - anti-ballistic missiles.
Then there was the 1999 Adapted Conventional Armed Forces Treaty in Europe (ACAF) that required Russia to pull back it's heavy weapons east of the Urals and reduce troops by 300,000. Russia did as the treaty required but no European nation has even ratified it. Instead, NATO is moving more troops and weapons into eastern Europe.
The threats against Russia have only increased since the supposed end of the cold war. What do you expect any self-respecting nation to do? Get on their knees and beg for mercy?
No, everything that the US and NATO have done, particularly the missile defense shield in eastern Europe, puts MAD (mutual assured destruction) at risk. This doctrine has kept the world safe for the last fifty years. It not only puts MAD at risk but it gives the USA a first strike capability.
First strike means the USA can rule the world - with a knife at all our throats.
"commanderkai" said Holy shit they actually know where a majority of their nuclear weapons are? Damn that alone is news.
Once again, you prove yourself to be a massive ocean of cluelessness.

Sometimes? Western Europe is sick of being the battlefield for the USA and Russia.
Burns, you're a total idiot if you think the USA wants a war with Russia. What the USA is doing is backing up the countries like Poland and Czech Rep, that don't want to put up with crap from Russia anymore.
The Polish President last year said in response to Russian complaints about Poland supporting the missile shield, "Polish policies are no longer dictated from Moscow and it is time for Moscow to come to grips with this reality."
The Russians are not welcome in Eastern Europe and the USA will not sell these people down the river again just to placate the Soviets...er....Russians.

Is that what I wrote? No, it isn't, dipshit.

Here's what the rest of the Czech people are saying:
August 04, 2007 Czech President Vaclav Klaus said the government should respect public opposition to the planned U.S. missile shield in the country, the official news agency reported on Friday.
The report cited Klaus as saying in an interview to Freies Europa that public poll results against the U.S. shield should be respected since these polls reflected people's genuine opinions concerning the issue. ... According to a recent poll, more than two-thirds of Czech citizens disagreed with the installation of the base. The government parties are not united on the issue either.

Over the last fifty years.
Take a look at the title of this thread!
