The CBC won't tell you because they still can't accept that the taliban that kill our countrymen are terrorists. Their still holding out that they can paint them as some kind of Che Guavara with a turban.

You are one hell of a conspiracy theorist there, rain.

Have you ever watched the CBC? Rain is dead on.

Even though the Libs put us in Afghanistan for all the right reasons, the CBC is still pushing an agenda that we shouldn't be there. Just listen to the tone of the story next time a Canadian soldier dies. There's no emphisis on or background on what they were doing when they died, only that they died.

I don't see much connection between muslims and the taliban so I don't think that's an issue here. In fact, unless you support radical fundamentalists over moderates, I don't the religious overtones enter into this.

Now this is how we reported WWII each day and the country was behind the mission for the most part. They started off the war news with daily enemy killed totals and the people felt like we were getting somewhere. The News media isin a conspiracy of sorts. ABC heads sent out memo's not to call the terrorists because this word would help George Bush win the 2004 election. They decided to call them insurgents to make it look like an internal uprising instead of outside funded and sponsored terrorism from Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Our news media no longer looks to report news. Instead they look for the most outrageous statements and sensational stories they can find. They also look to shape world view and policy and not just report like they used to do. Most of the current work of the major news should be labelled as opinion pieces and not news.
I am not unwilling to call a spade a spade. The media has no intention of staying neutral and that is a conspiracy in process.

I disagree RR, I think religeous intent is very much involved here.

From my perspective, we're supporting moderate muslims against total midevil loonys so I didn't really think that anyone would be supporting the loonies, but then again, it is the CBC :D

So long as we can gain success, the interference of politicians in military matters can be resisted; but on the first disaster they press upon us like a pack of hungry wolves.
