No big surprise in Alberta. Liberalism is frowned upon by the people there. Maybe in 200 years the people will wonder what it is like to have a Lib government and then elect them in 2208, however they will quickly come to their senses and go back to Tory in 2212

I've literally slept with my work boots on. Like almost every person I've ever worked with here in Alberta. So it gets a little personal when some politicians want to move in on Alberta and do as they please when we work ourselves to exhaustion for what we have.

So far one Party has consistently pushed their will on Alberta in a very rude way. I will never vote for a Party like that.

I lived in Alberta for 7 years, and it was the best prosperous times of my life until I moved here to the US. I felt like I could do anything there. I came from the Maritimes where it's mostly what can the government do for me attitude. To a place where the sky is the limit for the hard worker and not too many lazies there either. Alberta was the land of oppurtunity in the late 80's and 90's. I left in 02. Is it still the same? I hear it is.
The attitude of the people there is tremendous. They for the most part have a stay out of my way attitude toward the government and let me see what I can accomplish. I certainly didn't mind the no provincial tax and the rebates on energy. I just wish they didn't take that much in taxes from us in the first place.
I loved Calgary and hated living in Edmonton. I spent most of my weekends in the mountains and it took too flippin long to get to Jasper from Edmonton when it was only 1 hour and 5 minutes from my place in Calgary to Canmore and 1.5 hours to Banff, 2 hours to Lake Louise. I hiked so much of the back country in and around Banff national park. my favourite was above Canmore water shed and on up into the lakes and mountains along the logging road.
It was nothing to see bears and more on each trip. I miss that but have replaced it with beach trips here in Florida. Not much for good hiking around here.

    And this is a suprise............how?

Even the rank and file Liberals are getting pissed at their own party and to quote one of their supporters:

    kenmore wrote:
Too fucking bad... Dallaire needs to get a grip.. I am about two articles away from voting for Harper.. the libs are pissing me off..

shows just how far they've fallen from grace with their loyal constituents.

Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait awhile yet to see if Stephanie and the rest of his crowd actually have the testicular fortitude to force an election, or like a Catholic Nun in a cathouse, they'll just keep abstaining.

Provincial politics isn't the same as federal politics. You're comparing apples to oranges. For example, where i live in B.C. the B.C. Liberal party are considered rightwing. They have no affiliation with the Liberal party of Canada. Nothing has changed Federally. No poll favors liberals or conservatives winning a significant outcome in the next federal election. They're both in a dead heat 30 percent.

CanAm1, yeah, it's still the same as you left it. The opportunity, bears, mountains, and hiking. It's all waiting for you if Florida gets too hot.

The headline is Tories 'riding high'
"... political observers consider this support for Stelmach a tad tepid... "
"For the Tories... even bad numbers are good numbers,"

You can always count on the Calgary Herald for un-biased journalism!

ohhhhh...let's just see, you figure because the Herald is from Calgary it leans to the right and supports the Tories provincial or federal?

you are so wrong...remember Calgary put Liberals in the Legislature and the Herald loves our left wing turd Mayor Bronco...he's Dion's golfing buddy.

Poor EyeBrock, he doesn't like my cartoon chappy.
What a scathing criticism of my post. Brilliant! You'll get the Order of Canada for that one, yes indeed!

EyeBrock, mtbr's post is a perfect example of how you criticize someone!
Here's a helpful little checklist for you:
    Facts - check
    Relevant - check
    Link - check
Not whining about my avatar like a child - check

It's kind of scary because Canada as a whole is far more central, if anything centre-left. BC has had NDP and Liberal govts, Manitoba too, all over the east also. This probably creates alot of resentment from within Alberta which is not healthy for the country.

Uh, no. I've based my opinion of the Calgary Herald on their editorial content.
    I know... crazy, huh!
