I admit I don't admit to understand this little flap. Canada is not allowed to have a logo? What about other countries? Russias double headed eagle...United States flag withe USA on it...whats the problem? It's a fucking maple leaf with a player on it... am I missing something?
Those are National symbols, which are allowed. The Team Canada logo is the Hockey Canada "Federation" logo. The federation logos are not allowed.
I agree that it is stupid and it does sound like the COC is using this as an excuse to make money.

Maple Leaf...what more does anyone have to say...what you guys afraid of the frozen loonie again?
Cash Grab... Go figure
Yes, you are correct, but did you realize that by being the most popular sweater WORLD WIDE as far as purchases go, the money made by Hockey Canada helps keep the cost of minor hockey down? So I assume you think it is OK to make hockey even more expensive? As it is now many families are switching to soccer because they cannot afford to register their children to play our game, that is WRONG, this will just ensure more kids play soccer.
Disgusting
There will be 2 things on the labels of the new jerseys - Made in China, and IOC approved, and we'll line up to pay $150 bucks a pop up for them. By we I mean you.
Ummm, the maple leaf is a national symbol...like the stars and stripes and the double eagle for Russia. Point? Canada isn't allowed a national symbol but others are?
The Maple Leaf is a national symbol, but the hockey player is not. Although it is for us Canadian's, it's not actually a national symbol.
I believe we are allowed to keep the maple flag, because all they are bitching about is the hockey player in it.
