VANCOUVER ï¿½ A deal to sleep as many as 5,000 RCMP security unit members on a couple of cruise ships in Vancouver harbour for the 2010 Winter Olympics has run aground, and the vessels' angry operators are threatening to take the RCMP to court

Aside from the police and security having their own little booze cruise, I can't see any benefit. It's not like they were going to be a rapid deployment, reaction force between Vancouver and Whistler.

Boondoggle = defeated.
