There are many ways in which we can make contributions beyond 2011. What we've said is the current combat mission, the current configuration, will end in 2011. That's a firm date, confirmed by Parliament and respectful of Parliament," MacKay said.

If our government shuts of military funding after Afghanistan, I will be so pissed.

This whole 'we don't need a military' attitude in Canada is really costing the military. Which should have been clear when we entered Afghanistan with zero transport choppers, crappy vehicles like G-Wagon which serves as nothing more than a quick way to get blown up or shot with no protection. The soldiers are ill-equiped which probally cost some of there lives.

We were just so un-prepared. If we had what we have now at the start of the war, plus the chinooks we are getting hopefully soon. I would bet any money we had, our casualties would be been reduced by 60% or more.

The military of this country shoudl be constantly in use, somewhere, doing something other than peacekeeping so that we are constantly prepared.
