Even though U.S. president-elect Barack Obama has said he will close down the military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said it's unlikely he would lobby to have Canadian detainee Omar Khadr repatriated.

The ironic thing about all this whining from asshats like yourself is that the troops are now just arresting far fewer terrorists and instead are interrogating them in the field and then killing them. At least the perps at Gitmo are alive.

I'm really trying to find any sympathy for this kid...and yet...I can't. Can we have him executed in Canada for high treason?

Why should Canada protect accused terrorists? If returned he will still require a trial. With our wishy washy justice system the subsequent pat on the wrist would only make the bleeding hearts happy.

He's been waiting for years and in the meantime has been tortured.

    It's a biggie alright.

They aren't perps until they've been convicted of something.

Sympathy has bugger all to do with it. It's called law. One of the reasons that the US has seen its diplomatic influence and moral sway reduced in the world is their flouting of international law, namely the Geneva Convention. Under Bush they took up torture and arbitrary detention with gusto.

What Khadr does or does not deserve is immaterial. Under the law you get certain inalienable rights as a human being. Just like Clifford Olson did. Just like Paul Bernardo did.

Khadr has the right to appear before a judge to defend himself against the charges laid against him. He has the right not to be tortured. And he has rights under the Geneva Convention.

Thank Christ the days of Bush's reign of torture and death is over. Yeee-haw!
