Vermont lawmakers overrode Governor Jim Douglas' veto to become the fourth state to legalize gay marriage and first by legislative means.

    Momentum! And with Washington D.C. voting to recognize gay marriages and civil unions performed else where things seem to be picking up.

    I never could understand why some people feel this is an issue that is so passionate to them that they're prepared to invest their time and money to prevent this from happening. I mean abortion I can see why,but why should what two consenting adults do be of any concern to anyone. Regardless as to how you may feel about homosexuality how are they stepping on anyone's feet by getting legally married? Aside from the obvious objective of just being happy they should be entitled to all the benefits that heterosexual couples enjoy.
