The Arctic Ocean has given up tens of thousands more square kilometres of ice in a relentless summer of melt, with scientists watching through satellite eyes for a possible record low polar ice cap.
Maybe you should go back and read the last paragraph of that story:
While ice clogs Canada's trans-Arctic sea route, the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Centre predicts another near-record meltdown by the end of this year's summer thaw.

Yes, and their predictions are as accurate as the weather forecasts around here!
Just as accurate as hurricane predictions as well.
http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories200 ... pdate.html "The main change from the May outlook is an increased probability of a below-normal season, and an expectation of fewer named storms and hurricanes. The May outlook called for nine to 14 named storms, of which four to seven could become hurricanes, including one to three major hurricanes. During an average season, there are 11 named storms with winds of at least 39 mph, of which six become hurricanes with winds of 74 mph or greater and two of those become major hurricanes with winds of 111 mph or higher."
I think the part where the one guy said kids were swimming in the ocean really sets the tone. Kids don't willingly jump into cold water. Artic isn't supposed to be anything but cold.

They're Inuit!
Their idea of a heated pool would be if somebody pissed in it.

Way to be an ass.
Anyways, it doesn't matter what race you are, as a child you would not willingly jump into freezing cold water.

Whats race got to do with it?
As a child I swam in the Elbow River 10 km below the Glacier, 2nd week of May. Doesn't mean it was warm, it was a relief because it was 30 degrees outside. Something you'll never see in May ever again.
Whats race got to do with it? You're the one that proclaimed they are Inuit, and that "their idea of a heated pool would be if somebody pissed in it." So you tell me.

In late July the mercury soared to almost 30 degrees in this settlement of 900 INUIT.
The water was really warm, Mr. Gruben said. The kids were swimming in the ocean.
Isnt it amazing how most people cant (or wont) stop long enough to think through the issue.
1) Is the climate warming? That seems to be a near certainty.
2) Is it caused by us? Damned if I know. Thats a valid debate that no one can answer right now.
3) Will we as a species adapt to the changes? Damn good question.
Anyone else capable of separating the two and toss the political, partisan claptrap out the window and address the topic?
Every one of these topics (much like the political topics) quickly degrade into another form of shitfest without conclusion (unless the Mods have the good sense to shut em down). Recognizing global warming as a reality does not mean you have to wear a David Suzuki or Al Gore t-shirt. Theres more than enough evidence to show the trend as a reality whether its manmade, a cyclical normality, or Mother Gaya out to clear us off the planet.

Heck I don't know! Context clues perhaps.
